Services
Services at the Humphrey Center are provided by senior Marriage and Family Therapy licensed professionals, and by professionals in training. Professionals in training are advanced graduate students under the close supervision of senior professionals with many years of experience. Both University Students and members of the community utilize the services offered by the Center, and therefore provide this unique opportunity for graduate students to learn and practice the techniques of therapy first-hand with a professional. In addition the Humphrey Center provides opportunities for graduate students to engage in clinical research.
The Humphrey Center offers counseling services to individuals, couples and families who are experiencing marital and family conflict as well as problems in such areas as communication and intimacy, parenting, separation and divorce, step parenting, substance abuse, family violence, physical illness, stress, anxiety and depression.
The Humphrey Center serves anyone at the university or in the community for whom our services are appropriate. We welcome individuals and families on campus or in the community to seek our services.
The staff at the Center has cooperative relationships with members of the professional community, including physicians, attorneys and clergy who offer additional supportive and specialized services to individuals and families. The Center also has established relationships with the Department of Children and Families, the Connecticut Superior Court and various other state and private agencies for the purpose of establishing mutually beneficial relationships and a stable referral network for the center as well as to provide students with the opportunity to work at the interface between various state and private agencies.
